At Columbia International College, extracurricular activities are more than social affairs, they serve as avenues for students to build character and develop various qualities including: leadership, teamwork, communication and organizational skills. With over 80 different clubs, every student at Columbia finds an activity of their interest in which they can fully engage. Each activity has a unique benefit, and promotes strong values whether it is learning respect through the environmental club, fairness in chess club or peaceful conflict resolution in soccer.

More than 1700 students from over 70 different countries across the globe attend Columbia International College. These students take an immense amount of pride in their cultural backgrounds and are excited to share that with their peers at Columbia. Consequently, one of the school’s most popular and unique extracurricular activities is the International Cuisine Series which promotes a sense of unity and inclusiveness in Columbia’s student body. Over the course of each school year Columbia hosts at least 10 different dinners, featuring the food and cultural activities from regions such as:

Each dinner is organized by the students for the students. In the weeks leading to the dinner, a committee of students from the highlighted region plans every detail of the dinner from decorating the Student Café, to selecting the music and entertainment, to working with Columbia’s Executive Chef to choose the foods on the menu. The entire student body is invited to join the dinner even if it is not the dinner for their region.

The night of the dinner is vibrant and cheerful. Students dress in their traditional best and perform songs and/or dances from the native countries. The cheerful atmosphere of Columbia’s Student Cafe in combination with the delicious food only makes the fundamental theme of inclusiveness more evident. Without a doubt, the best part of the dinner is the unity of Columbia’s student body.

The International Cuisine Series unifies students with all different types of interests and hobbies from various countries across the globe. It is an extracurricular activity unlike anything else; music, prizes and good food. Each month Columbia students share the opportunity to travel around the world together, all within the comfort of Columbia’s school campus.
